Authorities in New South Wales are investigating a body discovered near an abandoned vehicle, believed to be that of Julian Ingram, a man wanted in connection with the murder of three individuals in Lake Cargelligo this past January.

‎Ingram was out on bail for domestic violence charges when he allegedly shot and killed his pregnant ex-girlfriend, Sophie Quinn, along with her friend and aunt.

‎The tragic incident occurred approximately 450 kilometers (280 miles) west of Sydney.

‎On Monday, police confirmed that the remains were found about 50 kilometers (31 miles) northwest of the crime scene by wildlife officers engaged in pest control efforts.

‎Ingram had not been seen since January 22, and investigators noted that the body appeared to have been at the location for an extended period.

‎Assistant Commissioner, Andrew Holland, stated that evidence at the scene, including the clothing of the deceased, strongly suggests it is Ingram.

‎”We believe that the identification at the scene, along with the attire worn by the deceased, leads us to conclude that it is him,” Holland informed reporters, as reported by ABC.

‎The tragic series of events unfolded on January 22, when Ingram allegedly shot Quinn, who was seven months pregnant and expected to give birth to a son in March, along with her friend and a relative.

‎A 19-year-old male victim was also seriously injured during the incident but has since been discharged from the hospital.

‎In the immediate aftermath of the shootings, law enforcement deployed around 100 officers to search for Ingram, who had significant knowledge of the local area due to his work with the council, making it possible for him to evade capture for some time.

‎Following the discovery of what is believed to be Ingram’s body, Holland remarked that this development “brings closure to this investigation” and provides “some comfort to the community so they can finally feel at ease.”

‎Lake Cargelligo, situated in central New South Wales, has a population of roughly 1,500 residents.
