Austinites will have the chance to taste dishes from African American, Afro-Latin, and other adjacent cultures this month through the Diaspora Food Festival.

The festival will take place June 18 from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. at Armadillo Den, located at 10106 Menchaca Road. Admission is free, but attendees must RSVP.

According to a press release, “diaspora refers to all global communities that descended from the historic migrations of people from Africa since the 15th century.” Some of the food on display at the Diaspora Food Festival will come from Afro-Columbian, Jamaican and Haitian cultures.

In addition to food, the festival will offer alcohol through the Armadillo Den bar.

The event comes from Latin City, the creators of the Sazon Latin Food Festival, which will come to Austin Sept. 17.
