Travis Scott’s 2014 mixtape Days Before Rodeo has soared to the top of the Billboard 200 albums chart, dated Sept. 28, following a massive boost in vinyl sales. The mixtape, which was originally released for free, vaulted from No. 106 to No. 1 after 156,000 equivalent album units were earned in the U.S. during the week ending Sept. 19, according to Luminate. This marks an extraordinary 1,295% increase in sales.
A staggering 150,000 of those units came from traditional album sales, with 149,000 from vinyl alone, making it Scott’s biggest week on vinyl to date. The strong vinyl sales also set a record, marking the largest sales week for a rap album on vinyl since Luminate began tracking sales in 1991. Across all genres, it’s the sixth-biggest vinyl week ever.
Days Before Rodeo is Scott’s fourth consecutive No. 1 album, following Utopia (2023), Astroworld (2018), and Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight (2016).
The mixtape’s resurgence came after it was made available commercially for the first time on Aug. 23, when it also debuted on streaming platforms. It entered the Billboard 200 at No. 2 in early September, driven by 361,000 units in its first week of release, primarily from digital album downloads.
However, the album saw a rapid decline to No. 30 in its second week and No. 106 in its third week, before the vinyl sales surge pushed it to No. 1 in its fourth week.

The vinyl editions, exclusively sold through Scott’s webstore, were offered in two variants: a standard edition and a deluxe edition. Also, the album was available in boxed sets that included a hoodie or a T-shirt alongside the vinyl, or Fan Pack bundles.
A wider release for the physical formats of the album has not yet been announced.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the week’s most popular albums in the U.S. based on a combination of album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA), and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new chart, dated Sept. 28, will be published on Billboard’s website on Sept. 24.
