Football’s world governing body has unveiled a major addition to its prize package for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, announcing that the victorious team will receive commemorative championship rings for the first time in the competition’s history.
The new honour will be presented alongside the FIFA World Cup trophy and winners’ medals following the final on Sunday, July 19, at New York New Jersey Stadium, where Spain and Argentina are set to contest the title.
FIFA said the initiative draws inspiration from the long-established championship ring tradition in North American sports, marking a historic milestone for international football.
A total of 2,026 specially produced rings will be created to celebrate the 2026 tournament.
Only 30 will be allocated to members of the title-winning squad and technical staff, while the remaining 1,996 will be released as officially licensed collectibles for supporters around the world.
The rings will feature unique design elements celebrating the triumph.
One side will display the FIFA World Cup trophy, while the opposite side will be personalised with the identity of the victorious nation.
Each piece will carry its own serial number, be tailored to the recipient’s finger size and include an official certificate verifying its authenticity.
Immediately after the final, the winning team’s captain and head coach will be presented with temporary versions during the trophy ceremony.
Permanent custom-made rings will later be produced and distributed to the eligible recipients.
