NASPAWAP Announces Price Hike For Sachet Water Amid Rising Production Costs

The National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers (NASPAWAP) has declared an increase in the cost of sachet water, attributing the rise to escalating production expenses linked to global supply chain disruptions.

‎Effective Monday, April 6, 2026, the new pricing structure comes in response to a significant surge in the costs of essential raw materials, particularly polymers utilized in packaging.

‎NASPAWAP noted that the situation has been exacerbated by the ongoing conflict in Iran, which has led to supply chain interruptions and increased international prices.

‎Under the updated pricing framework, the ex-factory price for a pack of 30 sachets of 500ml water will be set at GH¢8, while the ex-truck price is established at GH¢10. Additionally, the maximum retail price is capped at GH¢15 per bag.

‎In a statement released on April 2, NASPAWAP emphasized that the adjustment was unavoidable as producers find it increasingly difficult to absorb rising input costs. “The climbing expenses have made it tough for manufacturers to keep prices steady,” the association remarked.

‎The group highlighted that the new rates serve as recommended prices intended to ensure uniformity across the market and support sustainability within the sector. They urged retailers and distributors to adhere to these pricing guidelines to foster fairness and stability.

‎“This adjustment is crucial to maintain production levels and guarantee the ongoing supply of safe drinking water,” the statement concluded.

‎The development is anticipated to directly affect households and small enterprises, as sachet water remains the predominant source of drinking water for many throughout the country.
