President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama has appealed to Russian leader Vladimir Putin to resolve the protracted confrontation with Ukraine through peaceful negotiations, citing its devastating effects on human lives and international commerce.
Speaking at the Third Russia-Africa Summit on Thursday, October 29, the Ghanaian leader advocated diplomatic solutions to global disputes, emphasising the importance of stability, mutual understanding and cooperation among nations.

He commended President Putin for expressing readiness to restart three-party negotiations and supporting an enduring settlement that would safeguard the interests and security of Moscow and Kyiv.
President Mahama said Ghana welcomed the Russian president’s position, noting that meaningful dialogue remained essential to achieving a lasting agreement between the two adversaries.
Beyond the Eastern European crisis, the President called on countries to intensify joint efforts against extremist violence, particularly across territories controlled by the Alliance of Sahelian States, where persistent insecurity continues to threaten regional stability.

He further observed that armed confrontations worldwide had inflicted severe hardship on affected populations while undermining international transportation networks, trade routes and production systems.
The Ghanaian leader therefore stressed the need for collective action by the global community to address insecurity, restore stability and promote peaceful coexistence.
