A devastating shooting at Ayser Calik Secondary School in southern Turkey today has resulted in the deaths of at least four individuals, with numerous others suffering injuries, according to local authorities.
The incident unfolded in the Kahramanmaras region, where reports indicate that the assailant entered two classrooms armed with five firearms and seven magazines, believed to have belonged to his father. The exact details surrounding the fatalities and the status of the shooter remain unconfirmed.
This latest attack follows a shocking incident just a day prior, where 16 people were injured when an ex-student opened fire at another high school in the southern part of the nation before taking his own life.
Kahramanmaras Governor, Mukerrem Unluer, stated that approximately 20 individuals were injured in today’s assault, with some reported to be in critical condition.
The motive behind the attack is still unclear, prompting authorities to initiate an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
A reporter from Turkish broadcaster NTV described the scene, noting the intense sound of gunfire and the ensuing panic outside the school. Eyewitness footage captured chaotic scenes as crowds gathered, with many recording on their mobile devices while ambulances rushed to transport the injured.
