Renowned for his portrayal of William Hill on the acclaimed TV drama “This Is Us,” actor Ron Cephas Jones has passed away at 66 years old.

The news of his demise was shared by the actor’s representative in a statement that conveyed, “Ron Cephas Jones, a cherished and award-winning performer, has left us at the age of 66 due to a prolonged pulmonary ailment. His career has left an indelible mark, showcasing his warmth, elegance, generosity, benevolence, and compassion, qualities that resonated with all fortunate enough to cross paths with him.”

Born in Paterson, New Jersey, Jones initially embarked on a journey into the world of jazz but shifted his focus to acting during his college years. His journey to the New York stage was a gradual one, marked by years of driving a bus in Los Angeles before his acting career gained momentum.

Although his screen career began later in life, Jones made notable appearances in various TV shows, including “Law & Order,” “New York Undercover,” “NYPD Blue,” “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” “The Blacklist,” “Banshee,” “Mr. Robot,” “The Get Down,” and “Luke Cage.” Recently, he graced the Apple TV+ series “Truth Be Told.”

His filmography encompasses impressive titles such as “Half Nelson,” “Across The Universe,” “He Got Game,” “Sweet And Lowdown,” “Titus,” “Venom,” and “Dolemite Is My Name.”

However, his most memorable role was that of William Brown, the father who made the heartrending decision to give up his son Randall for adoption, only to reunite years later while grappling with his battle against cancer, in the series “This Is Us.”

Sterling K. Brown, who portrayed Cephas Jones’ on-screen son in the same series, paid his own heartfelt tribute via Instagram.
