The Government of Ghana is preparing to release a Request for Expression of Interest (RfEOI) in May 2026 as part of its initiative to establish a new national airline.
The move is aligned with the country’s comprehensive strategy to bolster its aviation sector, stimulate tourism, and enhance connectivity both regionally and internationally.
In a notable departure from earlier plans, sources within AviationGhana, who have insight into the forthcoming initiative and the final documents awaiting cabinet approval, reveal that the strategic partner selected for the endeavor will be required to hold a 75 percent stake in the airline, leaving Ghana with a 25 percent ownership share.
The partnership model is designed to capitalize on the expertise and resources of established global players, ensuring the airline’s long-term success and sustainability.
By permitting a majority stake for the strategic partner, Ghana demonstrates its commitment to attracting foreign investment and cultivating a competitive aviation landscape.
The government anticipates that the collaboration will not only inject vital capital but also improve operational efficiency and service quality.
Although the RfEOI has yet to be published, AviationGhana.com has confirmed interest from a North American airline, a European carrier, an African airline, and several airlines from the Gulf region.
