Deadly Explosion At Fireworks Factory In China Claims 26 Lives/Image@ BBC
A catastrophic explosion at a fireworks manufacturing facility in Hunan province, China, has resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals and left 61 others injured, according to reports from state media.
The incident occurred at the Huasheng Fireworks plant around 4:40 PM local time (08:40 GMT) yesterday in the city of Liuyang, prompting emergency responders to evacuate residents within a 3-kilometer (1.9-mile) radius of the site.
Nearly 500 personnel were dispatched to conduct search and rescue operations, while advanced robotic technology was employed to locate those trapped inside the building.
Authorities have initiated an investigation into the cause of the explosion and have reportedly implemented “control measures” against the individual responsible for the fireworks company.
Officials noted that two gunpowder storage facilities within the factory complex posed significant risks during the rescue efforts.
To mitigate potential hazards, teams evacuated nearby residents and took precautions such as humidifying the area to prevent secondary explosions.

Witnesses described the devastation, with one CCTV reporter noting that windows in nearby residential buildings were shattered due to the force of the blast.
Injuries among those affected range from individuals in their 20s to those in their 60s, with some suffering from bone fractures caused by flying debris, as detailed in a report by CCTV.
Chinese President, Xi Jinping, has called for comprehensive efforts to locate those still missing and to provide medical assistance to the injured. He has also demanded a thorough investigation into the incident to ensure accountability.
Residents living approximately 1 kilometer from the factory expressed their distress, reporting damage to their homes, including shattered glass windows and twisted doors.
One local stated that villagers now must take detours due to debris scattered on roads, while another expressed fear and has chosen to leave the area.
Liuyang is recognized as a major center for fireworks production, often referred to as the largest manufacturer of its kind globally.
Unfortunately, incidents involving explosions at fireworks facilities are not rare in China, earlier this year, a separate explosion at a fireworks store in Hubei province resulted in 12 fatalities.
