Olushola Olonade, a 50-year-old woman from Nigeria, celebrated becoming a mother after welcoming quadruplets, two boys and two girls, following years of waiting for marriage and children.
Olonade shared her story during a church service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Solid Rock Parish, in Lagos. She said she married on December 12, 2023, at age 48, after a long wait to find a husband.
After her wedding, Olonade said she prayed that she would not have to wait much longer before having children. She became pregnant the following year and looked forward to starting her family.
Her pregnancy brought several surprises as doctors changed their predictions with each scan. The first scan showed she was expecting twins, while a later scan revealed three babies. A follow-up examination eventually confirmed she was carrying quadruplets.
Olonade recalled her reaction when doctors told her she was expecting four children. “Before then, I had a crisis. He said, ‘I think I am seeing four.’ I said four. So, I told my husband that I was not coming back home,” she said, according to Vanguard.
She also shared that she had always hoped she would not face another long delay after waiting years for marriage. “I have always said I do not want to wait twice. I waited for my husband. I do not want to wait for children,” she said.
Olonade gave birth to the quadruplets on March 6, 2026, just three weeks before her 50th birthday on March 31. She said multiple births are common in her family, with several relatives, including her aunt, having twins.
She expressed gratitude for the safe delivery of her children and thanked God for allowing her to experience motherhood. “I want to thank God for sparing my life. The living was not brought out of the dead, and the dead was not brought out of the living,” Olonade said.
