Kelie and Donovan Charles, an African American couple and the Founders of Dutchess and Duke, a rising Black-owned brand known for its diverse character backpacks and luggage, have proudly partnered with a local non-profit to donate more than 100 free new backpacks during their recent Back-to-School Bash in the Atlanta, Georgia area.

The backpacks ignite imaginations and foster a love of learning for many children of color preparing for the new school year.

Families First, a local non-profit serving the Atlanta community for 130 years, hosted their annual Back-to-School Bash to provide free backpacks, school supplies, groceries, and access to various resources for area families. The event also offered family fun, job placement services, free haircuts, lunch, and connections to dozens of community organizations.

Dutchess and Duke’s backpacks, designed to celebrate children from diverse backgrounds, perfectly aligned with Families First’s mission to “build resilient families so all children can thrive.”

“At Dutchess and Duke, we know school is the launchpad for lifelong adventures,” said Kelie. “Seeing the joy on the faces of these young explorers at the Back-to-School Bash as they chose their perfect backpacks – a companion for their school-year journey – was magical. These backpacks represent possibility and belonging, igniting a spark that will propel them forward on their adventures in learning and beyond.”
