The G4 Alliance has emphasized that its planned training with Ghana’s National Ambulance Service is designed to build local capacity through skills transfer and dialogue, not to take over or create a parallel health system.
Speaking virtually at a Diaspora Africa Forum press conference ahead of the G4 Alliance Ghana 2026 meeting, Dr Gail Rosseau, Chairman of the G4 Alliance, said the focus remains on advancing safe, quality and affordable surgical care across Ghana and the continent. She clarified that the November 5 training, referenced by board member Dr John Sampson, will be a practical session for National Ambulance Service personnel led by a trauma physician from Chicago.
The goal, she said, is to ensure knowledge and skills reach front-line staff.
Paediatrician, reproductive health specialist and the first female Rotary president in Ghana, Dr. Juliette Tuakli expressed hope that the gathering would generate lasting impact beyond Accra by fostering new partnerships and practical solutions that build on previous national efforts, including last year’s surgical dialogue.
A co-founder and Governing Council member of WiPHLA, who also serves as a director at Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, noted that the Alliance continues to drive equity for neglected surgical conditions.
H.E. Ambassador Erieka Bennett, founder and head of mission of the Diaspora African Forum Embassy, urged Ghanaians to take part in the conference and its training opportunities to help strengthen the country’s healthcare system, particularly in surgical care.
