In a significant move aimed at creating employment opportunities for the youth of Ghana, Diaspora African Forum (DAF) has recently forged an empowering partnership with Ghana Digital Center Limited.

The collaboration between the Diaspora African Forum Youth Empowerment Training Center (DAFYETC) and Ghana Digital Center Limited was officially announced on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at the official MOU signing. Ghana Digital Center has committed to partner with DAFYETC to develop skills development training in the area of ICT and give space to Diaspora African Forum Youth Empowerment Center (DAFYETC) at the Ghana Digital Center to help develop the Business Processing Outsourcing (BPO) Call center space. This strategic alliance aims to revolutionize youth training, empowerment, and job creation throughout Ghana.

During the event, KWADWO BAAH AGYEMANG, the CEO of Ghana Digital Center, shared insightful details about the collaboration’s objectives, strategies, and anticipated outcomes. “We have partnered with KWAME NKRUMAH University of Science and Technology, Legon, Communication University, and Academic City University,” he explained. “Our plan is to engage graduating students who are working on their final year projects. We will provide them with coaching and support to develop their projects further, leading to the creation of prototypes. Moreover, we will offer them a dedicated space to launch their own businesses, ensuring they can secure employment opportunities after their national service. Our ultimate goal is to support the government in reducing unemployment rates across the country.”

To complement these efforts, a specialized call center has been established to train the youth in handling calls from around the world, right from within Ghana. This initiative will equip young individuals with valuable skills and global exposure, thereby enhancing their career prospects.

ERIEKA BENNETT, Ambassador of Diaspora African Forum (DAF), expressed her excitement about the collaboration and its mission. She emphasized the importance of experienced individuals like MR. KEVIN WILLIAMS, Executive Director of Diaspora African Forum Youth Empowerment Training Center who has over 30 years of experience in BPO call centers, and MR. MAHAR COOKE, Deputy Director of Diaspora African Forum Youth Empowerment Training Center, in ensuring the successful implementation of the mission.

The Diaspora African Forum Youth Empowerment Training Center was established with a clear vision to equip young people with the skills, knowledge, resources, and opportunities needed for their personal and social development.

Similarly, the Ghana Digital Center Limited was founded to lead the development of technology parks and digital centers across Ghana. By providing essential infrastructure, facilities, a conducive environment, services, and programs, the organization fosters the growth of the ICT and IT-enabled Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry.

This strategic partnership holds tremendous promise for advancing youth development not only in Accra but also in various other regions of Ghana. With its core focus on promoting Information Communication and Technology (ICT), the collaboration will facilitate skills training and promote employment opportunities for the Ghanaian youth in the long run.
