Ghana’s ambition to restore its national airline has received a boost following Boeing’s favourable initial review of the proposed project.
The American aircraft manufacturer pledged technical assistance after discussions with President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, reaffirming its willingness to help bring the initiative to fruition.
An implementation framework has been established, outlining plans to secure suitable investors and industry collaborators, obtain an Air Operator Certificate, determine aircraft requirements and arrange funding for the venture.
Boeing’s representatives further assured the President of their continued involvement during the carrier’s formation and subsequent commercial operations.
The proposed aviation venture is expected to boost activity at Ghana’s airports, position Accra as a major regional transport gateway and generate jobs within the aviation sector.
President Mahama has earlier indicated that the country intends to launch its new national carrier before his presidential mandate expires in January 2029.
