Russian-backed officials in Crimea have announced that at least four individuals lost their lives in a recent surge of Ukrainian attacks on the peninsula.

‎In the regional capital, Simferopol, three people were killed and seven others sustained injuries during an assault on what were characterized as “non-residential facilities.”

‎This incident marks the first reported fatalities in the area from such attacks.

‎In a separate event, one individual was killed and three were injured when a commuter train heading to Kerch was targeted, according to the leader appointed by Russia in Crimea.

‎Ukraine has yet to respond to these claims.

‎The incident represents the third consecutive day that Ukraine has been accused of striking civilian transportation in territories under occupation.

‎Recently, Kyiv has intensified its operations within Russian territory as well.

‎On Wednesday, Ukrainian forces launched a strike on the outskirts of St. Petersburg, just hours ahead of a significant economic forum aimed at drawing foreign investments into Russia.

‎Ukrainian rPresident, Volodymyr Zelensky, confirmed that Ukrainian drones successfully targeted multiple locations within Russia, including an oil terminal and a naval base located in Kronstadt, a key outpost for the Russian Navy’s Baltic Fleet.

‎The St. Petersburg Economic Forum, once referred to as the “Russian Davos,” is a prominent event on Russia’s political calendar.

‎Prior to Moscow’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, it attracted notable Western delegations, including heads of state.

‎Russian President, Vladimir Putin, initiated the occupation of Crimea in 2014.

‎Over the past four years since the onset of Russia’s invasion, Ukraine has significantly enhanced its defense capabilities.

‎The nation is now capable of consistently striking targets within Russia, particularly focusing on energy infrastructure and oil facilities that are perceived as supporting the Russian military efforts.

‎On Wednesday, eight individuals were reported dead after a drone strike hit a passenger bus in the Russia-controlled Donetsk region of Ukraine, according to an official installed by Moscow.

‎Meanwhile, Moscow continues its bombardment of Ukrainian cities, leading to frequent civilian casualties.

‎Just on Monday night, at least 22 people were reported dead due to a combination of missile and drone attacks across Ukraine.
