Ghana and South Korea have entered into a significant Visa Waiver Agreement for holders of Diplomatic and Service Passports.
The landmark agreement was formalized during the ongoing Africa-Korea Foreign Ministers Meeting, with Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and South Korea’s Foreign Minister, Cho Hyun, signing the document.
Ghana And South Korea Sign Historic Visa Waiver Agreement
In a Facebook announcement, Ablakwa hailed the agreement as a pivotal advancement in diplomatic relations between the two nations.
He emphasized that the agreement marks the first visa waiver arrangement established in nearly five decades of formal ties.
Ablakwa also revealed that discussions are underway to extend the waiver to holders of Ordinary Passports, a move that could further promote travel, trade, tourism, and cultural exchanges between Ghana and South Korea.
“Today, Ghana and South Korea have signed a historic Visa Waiver Agreement for holders of Diplomatic and Service Passports.
Negotiations will continue to include holders of Ordinary Passports,” he stated.

The agreement allows holders of Diplomatic and Service Passports from both countries to travel without visa requirements, facilitating official interactions, enhancing diplomatic collaboration, and strengthening bilateral relations.
