Ghanaian Singer Fameye To Be Honored At MUSIGA’s Authentic Highlife Night

The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) is set to honor Fameye, the 2025 TGMA Highlife Artiste of the Year, at the upcoming Authentic Highlife Night. The event will take place on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the +233 Jazz Bar & Grill in Accra.

The event is organized in partnership with the Ghana Tourism Authority, National Folklore Board, and Charterhouse, the night aims to celebrate the rich legacy and evolution of Ghanaian highlife music.

The event will feature performances from an impressive line-up of veteran and contemporary musicians like Thomas, Samuel Owusu, Kaakyire Kwame Appiah, Adani Best, Pauline Oduro, Sherifa Gunu, Aklerh, and Bessa Simons with The Bessa Band.

Fameye’s contribution to highlife music will be recognized, following his recent win at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards. “This is a night where we will showcase some of the best highlife music and it’s an opportunity for us to enjoy a night of authentic highlife, cultural pride, and musical excellence as we await UNESCO’s declaration of highlife as part of the World’s Intangible Cultural Heritage,” said MUSIGA President Bessa Simons.

The event is significant, as Ghana awaits UNESCO’s formal recognition of highlife music as part of the world’s intangible cultural heritage. The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon Abla Dzifa Gomashie, will attend as the Special Guest of Honor.
