Ghana has sent 61 medical workers to Grenada to help ease shortages at the Caribbean country’s hospitals and other health facilities.
The group will work on renewable two-year agreements, officials said before their departure under the government’s Labour Export Programme.
Chief of Staff Julius Debrah urged the recruits to maintain strong ethical and professional standards, saying their behaviour could shape perceptions of Ghana.
He told them that qualifications might secure an opportunity, but personal conduct would determine whether it continued.
Labour, Jobs and Employment Minister Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum also advised the workers to meet their contractual obligations and represent Ghana well.
He encouraged them to return home once their agreements ended.
Agyekum said the government was advancing plans to send more nurses to Germany and other Caribbean nations, broadening overseas job prospects for Ghanaian healthcare personnel.
The programme aims to create employment abroad while helping partner countries fill staffing gaps in essential industries, including medicine.
