Ghana And Colombia Sign Landmark Deal To Enhance Maritime Connectivity‎

In a significant move to strengthen economic ties between Africa and Latin America, Ghana and Colombia have signed a landmark deal to establish direct maritime connection between the Port of Tema and the Port of Cartagena.

‎ The announcement was made by Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, following successful negotiations in Bogotá yesterday.

‎The newly established route aims to facilitate smoother trade flows, enhance logistics, and create new avenues for businesses on both sides of the Atlantic.

‎Colombia’s Vice President, Francia Elena Márquez Mina, played a significant role in championing the partnership, while Ghana expressed gratitude to Colombia’s Foreign Minister, Rosa Yolanda Villavicencio, for her leadership and dedication in securing the deal.

‎Officials emphasized the symbolic importance of the agreement, highlighting that the Atlantic corridor, historically associated with the transatlantic slave trade, is being reoriented as a pathway for economic collaboration, job creation, and shared success.

‎The agreement is anticipated to deepen Ghana-Colombia relations and open new pathways for trade and investment across both continents.
