A new television drama about firefighters is now in production, as filmmaker Tyler Perry begins work on a fresh project for Netflix.
The series, titled Where There’s Smoke, will follow a group of firefighters as they respond to dangerous emergencies while also dealing with difficult moments in their private lives. The project is planned as a 16-episode show.
Filming has started in Atlanta, where Perry is directing the production. Several actors have already been confirmed for the main roles. Tyler Lepley will play Owen, while Mike Merrill takes the role of Cameron. Da’Vinchi will appear as Noah, and Eltony Williams will act as Jermaine.
The show plans to mix emergency scenes with personal stories. Viewers will see firefighters rushing to save lives during risky calls. At the same time, the story will show the pressure they face at home, including broken relationships, emotional stress, and life decisions that could change their future.
The drama is part of Perry’s long partnership with Netflix, where he writes, directs, and produces several films and television projects. His earlier work on the platform includes the series Beauty in Black, the comedy film A Madea Homecoming, the drama A Jazzman’s Blues, and the war film The Six Triple Eight.
The release date for Where There’s Smoke has not yet been announced.
