In a bid to bolster tourism, Zimbabwean President, Emmerson Mnangagwa, has urged for closer cooperation between Zimbabwe and Ghana, emphasizing that visa-free travel and cultural exchanges could significantly stimulate growth in the sector.
During discussions with Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama at Peduase Lodge today, President Mnangagwa underscored the necessity of fostering connections among people as a basis for economic collaboration.
“Facilitating tourism and enhancing interpersonal exchanges through a visa-free policy can catalyze further development in this industry,” he stated.
The Zimbabwean President commended Ghana’s initiatives to promote regional tourism, particularly highlighting the African Tourism and Unity Campaign held in August 2025 as a testament to the achievements possible through collaboration among African nations.
He noted that such initiatives could improve connectivity throughout the continent, including ties with Zimbabwe.
Additionally, President Mnangagwa pointed out Zimbabwe’s growing international reputation as a travel destination and proposed collaborative tourism packages, suggesting potential partnerships between Victoria Falls and Cape Coast.
He expressed Zimbabwe’s willingness to collaborate with Ghana in preserving both tangible and intangible cultural heritage as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations.
