Ghana’s President Mahama Heads To France For Official Visit

President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama is set to travel to France today, Monday, April 6, 2026, following an invitation from French President Emmanuel Macron.

‎A statement released by the Presidency, signed by Government Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu, reveals that President Mahama’s visit will commence with his participation in the 2026 One Health Summit in Lyon. The high-profile global event will focus on health systems, food security, and collaborative responses to worldwide health challenges.

‎As the founder and key advocate of the Accra Reset Initiative, President Mahama will co-chair the summit’s high-level segment alongside President Macron on Tuesday.

‎The summit is anticipated to gather heads of state, health ministers, and global health specialists to discuss reforms in international health systems and to adopt a political declaration aimed at enhancing global health collaboration.

‎During the summit, President Mahama will deliver two significant keynote addresses. His first speech will address global health architecture, co-chaired by President Macron and Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Director-General of the World Health Organization.

‎In his second address, he will present Ghana’s stance on global health security and emphasize the nation’s commitments to tackling emerging health issues.

‎Following the summit, the President will travel to Paris on Wednesday, April 8, for bilateral discussions at the Élysée Palace with President Macron.

‎The talks will concentrate on fortifying Ghana-France relations and expanding collaboration in vital sectors such as health, education, trade, investment, and regional security.

‎Additionally, President Mahama is scheduled to meet with Gérard Larcher, the President of the French Senate, at the Senate House prior to his engagement at the Élysée Palace.

‎The statement confirmed that President Mahama will return to Accra shortly after concluding his activities in Paris.
