Ghana’s President Mahama Arrives In South Korea To Enhance Relations

‎President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has arrived in South Korea for a five-day working visit.

‎The purpose of this trip is to strengthen the enduring bilateral relations between Ghana and South Korea, as well as to explore new avenues for trade, investment, and technological collaboration.

‎The President landed at the Air Force Base in Seoul at exactly 8:00 p.m., local time today. He was greeted by the Korean Ambassador to Ghana, Park Kyongsig,   the Director-General of the Africa and Middle East Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, Chung Kwangyong  and  Ghana’s Ambassador to South Korea, Kojo Choi,  along with representatives from the Ghana Embassy in Seoul.

‎Ghana and South Korea have maintained a strong diplomatic relationship for decades, characterized by collaboration in trade, education, technology, infrastructure development, and cultural exchange. The visit aims to enhance these ties further and broaden partnerships in crucial areas such as industry, shipping, innovation, and human capital development.

‎During the visit, President Mahama will engage in bilateral discussions with the President of South Korea, Lee Jae-Myung, and will also meet with the Speaker of the Korean National Assembly, Woo Won-shik.

‎As part of his activities, President Mahama will take part in a ship-naming ceremony at the Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard in Ulsan and deliver a speech during a conferment ceremony at Yonsei University and is set to give an interview to Yonhap News Agency.

‎The President’s itinerary also includes a meeting with Ghanaians residing and studying in South Korea, along with dinner meetings with chief executives and business leaders to explore investment opportunities in Ghana.

‎President Mahama is accompanied by a delegation that includes the Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama, the President’s Advisor and Special Aide, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and the Deputy Chief of Staff responsible for Operations, Stan Xoese Dogbe.
