Two Boys Being Called Heroes For Helping Stop Burglary At Ice Cream Shop

Adonis, 9, and Jayceon “JC”, 10, two African American boys from St. Louis, Missouri, helped stop a burglary at their neighborhood ice cream shop after noticing a shattered window and calling the police just in time.

The boys were on their way to Aunt Jamie’s Ice Cream on South Broadway and Krauss Street when they noticed something wasn’t right. The shop was closed, but its window was broken, and they heard noises coming from inside.

“We came out here to try to buy some ice cream, and his window was just shattered,” Adonis told Fox 2 Now. “So we just started hearing noise, and I said, ‘Who’s in here?’”

Adonis tried calling the shop owner, Aaron Roesch, but when he didn’t answer, he immediately contacted the police. The boys stayed outside and kept watch until officers arrived and found the suspect trapped inside the shop.

Roesch said he was thankful for their quick response. “If I didn’t have a friendship with these kids, that guy would have walked away scot-free,” he said.

The Black-owned shop, named Aunt Jamie’s after Roesch’s godmother, opened just a month ago. It serves ice cream, coffee, and desserts, and has already become a popular hangout spot for neighborhood kids.

JC said Roesch didn’t deserve what happened. “I don’t know why people do this to him… he is a nice guy, he shouldn’t be treated how people treat him,” he said.

Roesch said a police report was filed, and charges are being pressed. He added that Adonis and JC often visit to do homework, draw, or just spend time. “These fellows have become my friends,” he said.
