An Indian national by the name Shaham Shamar, has been sentenced by a circuit court in Ghana on Friday, to a five-year prison term for the possession of fake Ghanaian and U.S. currencies.
Shamar is said to have embezzled funds entrusted to his care by his boss, and in an attempt to cover it up, he arranged for a printing press to print fake Ghanaian and U.S. currencies for him, which he explained to the printing press would be used in a movie production. Shamar ended up receiving a total amount of GHC 1,991,000.00 and an additional $191,000 of printed fake currencies.
Reports reveal that Shamar placed the fake currencies into the safe of his employer, however, upon taking the currencies to the bank for deposit by his boss, it was discovered that the currencies were fake.

Upon police investigation, Shamar eventually confessed to embezzling the real currencies in the safe and replacing them with the fake ones he ordered to be printed for him by the printing press for a movie production.
After a court trial against Shamar, he was found guilty of the possession of fake currencies and was sentenced to five years in prison with hard labour.
