Ghana Announces An Emergency Evacuation Operation For Its Citizens In Qatar

Ghana’s embassy in Doha announced an emergency evacuation operation on March 15 for its citizens in Qatar following escalating security concerns in the Gulf region.

The embassy explained that the operation is a one-way road for those ready to return home immediately, adding that citizens must submit their passport biodata pages via email to the embassy at doha@mfa.giv.gh no later than 17 March to partake. “The Government of the Republic of Ghana has decided to undertake an emergency evacuation exercise in Qatar in the wake of the heightened security situation in the region,” the embassy said.

Ghana issued a warning to its citizens residing in Qatar on 6 March about the escalating security situation in the region, describing the decision as a response to an unpredictable and potentially volatile situation.

To ensure an uninterrupted and safe return for Ghanaians choosing to evacuate, Ghanaian authorities continue to keep an eye on the situation to ensure steady coordination with the embassy.
