Miss Diaspora Ghana 2026 Officially Launched In Accra

The 2026 edition of Miss Diaspora Ghana was officially inaugurated yesterday at the Accra City Hotel, with key stakeholders underscoring the initiative’s significance in enhancing diaspora involvement and fostering national progress.

‎The event attracted government representatives, industry executives, and members of the diplomatic and business sectors.

‎Richard Anane Nsiah, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, emphasized that this initiative transcends traditional beauty pageants. He characterized it as a strategic avenue for celebrating cultural identity and strengthening ties between Ghana and its global diaspora.

‎Nsiah noted that Ghana is actively positioning itself as a premier tourism destination in West Africa, highlighting flagship projects such as the Year of Return, Beyond the Return, and the Black Star Experience as vital components of diaspora engagement.

‎He remarked on the critical role that diaspora contributions, especially from women, play in shaping Ghana’s international narrative and overall development.

‎Chief Executive Officer of Nubian Crown Company Limited, Yvonne Eyram Kofigah, stated that the platform aims to extend beyond mere pageantry to create tangible social impact.

‎Kofigah elaborated that Miss Diaspora Ghana is focused on reconnecting women of African descent with their heritage while fostering opportunities that significantly contribute to national advancement. “This is not solely about winning a title but about the positive influence these young women can exert,” she asserted, revealing that the 2026 winner will spearhead a community development initiative on the Akuapem Ridge.

‎The project will aim to establish a vocational training and skills development center dedicated to supporting cassava processing, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihoods for youth and women.

‎Kofigah pointed out that the initiative aligns with broader national strategies to engage the diaspora more effectively, particularly in investment, skills exchange, and collaborative development efforts.

‎Kobby Mensah, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Development Company, also spoke at the event, highlighting tourism’s potential as a catalyst for economic transformation. He mentioned ongoing initiatives like the Ghana Tourism Marketplace, which links local enterprises with global markets, as well as investment platforms aimed at encouraging diaspora involvement in tourism ventures.

‎Mensah asserted that empowering youth and backing women-led businesses are essential for cultivating an inclusive and sustainable tourism industry.

‎Chief Executive of the Ghana Export-Import Bank, Sylvester Adinam Mensah, stressed the necessity of youth empowerment and industrial advancement.

‎He described the theme of the program as both timely and transformative, asserting that Ghana’s economic development hinges on building robust industries, supporting local enterprises, and creating opportunities for young entrepreneurs while leveraging diaspora connections for investment and business growth.

‎The launch signifies the commencement of activities for the 2026 edition, with organizers urging collaboration from government bodies, private enterprises, and the diaspora community to achieve lasting impact.
