Ever since her first Oscars appearance in 2014 (where she won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, NBD), Lupita Nyong’o has consistently been one of the best dressed on the red carpet. And over a decade later, she’s still got it.
Lupita stunned in custom Chanel at the 2025 Oscars, gliding down the red carpet like the pro she is. The white gown featured a sparkling sequin corset overlay, with an ivory satin belt at the waist. The straps and neckline were also lined with classic Chanel pearls. The dress reportedly featured 22,410 embroidery elements and took 600 hours to complete.
Lupita, worked hand in hand with her longtime stylist, Micaela Erlanger, on the look. Micaela detailed the process to Marie Claire, revealing that the elegant ensemble was inspired by a photo of Lisa Evangelista from the ’90s, which the stylist described as “understated, elegant, timeless, and glamorous.”

Fans of her film, The Wild Robot, might also see her all-white look as a nod to her robot character. After all, she is attending in support of the film, which was nominated for three awards including Best Animated Feature.
