Nigerian music sensation Wizkid has surpassed 9 billion streams on Spotify, becoming the first African artist to reach this milestone.

According to recent figures, Wizkid’s impressive streaming numbers are led by his collaborative hit “One Dance,” which has racked up an astonishing number of streams. The song, which features Canadian rapper Drake and British singer Kyla, is one of the most streamed tracks of all time on the platform.

Wizkid’s own hit single “Essence,” featuring Tems, has also been a major success, garnering hundreds of millions of streams. While Wizkid celebrates this achievement, American singer Taylor Swift remains the most streamed artist on Spotify.

This achievement proves Wizkid’s status as a global music icon and paves the way for other African artists to follow in his footsteps.
