In a report featured by The Philadelphia Inquirer, Kevin Hart, Meek Mill, and Michael Rubin have jointly committed a generous $7 million to create educational scholarships for marginalized youth in the city.

This initiative comes in response to glaring disparities in educational opportunities within Philadelphia, largely driven by socioeconomic inequities.

The Philadelphia School Partnership revealed that six out of every ten children in Philadelphia are enrolled in underperforming schools, with a disproportionate number of Black and Brown students attending these institutions.

Considering this disparity, Kevin Hart, whose roots run deep in Philadelphia, joined forces with Meek Mill, whose real name is Robert Rihmeek Williams, and philanthropist Michael Rubin to bridge the educational divide.

Their multimillion-dollar contribution is dedicated to creating scholarships for youth from low-income households in North and South Philadelphia, the very communities where the comedian and rapper themselves grew up.

These scholarships will enable students to attend private and parochial schools during the 2023-24 academic year. Additionally, the donation will address the digital divide by providing students with essential resources such as Wi-Fi access, laptops, tablets, and more, all aimed at facilitating their success in the classroom.

This isn’t the first time Rubin, Hart, and Williams have taken the lead in uplifting their hometown’s youth through education.

In the previous year, they collectively donated $15 million, which was distributed among 110 Philadelphia-based private schools to cover tuition costs for students in need. In 2020, they established a $2 million scholarship fund to offer financial assistance to over 1,000 students from low-income households.

Kevin Hart, after recently launching a campaign with The Children’s Place, emphasized the importance of education, stating, “As a father, I understand how school, education, and reading material can influence rising generations. Whether opening a new book, taking on a new challenge in the classroom, or making memories with fellow students, these are the moments that have the most profound impact on a child’s life.”
