Antoine Semenyo has been crowned the Premier League Player of the Month for February, marking a significant milestone in his career following his January transfer to Manchester City from AFC Bournemouth.
The Ghana international delivered an impressive run of form throughout the month, scoring three goals and providing one assist in five Premier League matches.
During February, Semenyo found the net against Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham F.C. and Leeds United, producing consistent performances that played an important role in City’s campaign.
Reacting to the recognition, Semenyo described the honour as a special moment in his debut season at the club.
“This is a brilliant moment for me. To win the Premier League Player of the Month award so soon after joining City is something I’ll never forget,” he said via Manchester City’s official website.
He added that his focus remains on continuing to improve and helping the team push for success during the decisive stages of the season.
Since arriving at the Etihad Stadium, Semenyo has made an immediate impact, showcasing his versatility across several attacking roles including both wings, as a central forward, and even in midfield. His adaptability has added valuable depth and tactical flexibility to Pep Guardiola’s squad.
The achievement is also notable as Semenyo becomes the first Manchester City player outside of Erling Haaland to win the monthly award since Raheem Sterling in December 2021. Haaland has dominated the accolade in recent years, winning it four times, most recently in September this season.
Semenyo’s victory also places him among a select group of Ghanaian players to claim the honour. He joins Tony Yeboah, who won the award twice in 1995 while playing for Leeds United, and Andre Ayew, who secured it in 2015 during his time at Swansea City A.F.C.
The recognition highlights Semenyo’s rapid rise in English football and underscores his growing influence at Manchester City as the club continues its pursuit of major domestic and European honours.
