Dr. Erieka Bennett, Ambassador of The Diaspora African Forum (DAF) Embassy, and personal friend of Reverend Jackson and his family, extends her deepest condolences to the family and loved ones. She further says, “His spirit and legacy has impacted the world and will live on forever.”
Jesse Louis Jackson, a tireless advocate for civil rights and social justice, transitioned this morning, February 17th at or around 2:00 am. Reverend Jackson is a prominent figure in the global fight for human rights and equality. He was also a founding board member of the DAF Embassy. His tremendous commitment to empowering marginalized communities and promoting unity among people of African descent has left an indelible mark on our history.
As a revered leader, Reverend Jackson’s legacy will continue to inspire generations to come. His resilience inspired his vision for The Rainbow PUSH Coalition, an international human and civil rights organization. Also, the Reverend was the first Black man to run for the US in 1984 and 1988.
In honor of his memory, we invite all who have been impacted by Reverend Jackson’s work to sign a book of condolence that will be opened Thursday, February 19-26, 2026, at the DAF Embassy, located at the W.E.B Du Bois Center, Accra, Ghana. This remarkable icon will also be honored on the historic Sankofa wall at the Diaspora Embassy.
Claudette Perry, one of the founding members of the DAF Embassy who opened the Embassy in 2007 with Reverend Jackson, and current executive with Black Press USA, is ironically in Ghana and will commence the signing of the book.
The Diaspora African Forum (DAF) Embassy is the first and only diplomatic mission of its kind in the world that services the African Diaspora.
