12-Year-Old Ghanaian Student Develops App To Connect Farmers Directly To Traders

A 12-year-old Ghanaian student who developed an App to connect farmers directly to traders has won the Favorite Project at the Coolest Projects Ghana for 2025.

Phil-Manuel Kpobi, a student from Sterling International School and a member of the Ghana Code Club, developed an Agro App using the Python-based Flet framework.

His app is designed to connect farmers directly to traders, helping improve how food moves from farm to market, reduce post-harvest losses, and ensure fair pricing for both farmers and buyers.

Some cool features on Phil-Manuel’s Agro App Include: Online Produce Listings where farmers can easily list their available crops for sale, Location-Based Search where traders can find nearby farms and products based on their location and a Built-In Chat where there can be a Real-time messaging between farmers and buyers for smooth communication.

There is also an Order and Delivery Tracking, where transactions can be tracked from order placement to delivery and integrated Mobile Payments – Secure payments through local mobile money platforms and a Photo Uploads where farmers can upload images of their produce to attract buyers.

Phil-Manuel Kpobi’s creativity, technical skill, and passion for solving real-world problems through technology is truly inspiring.

More than 100 students across primary, junior high and senior high schools entered this year’s technology showcase competition organised by Coolest Projects Ghana.

There were different categories including scratch for younger primary students, Web, AI, Mobile Apps and Hardware or Robotics.

Coolest Projects is an initiative from Raspberry PI Foundation, UK celebrated across the world.

There is the Coolest Projects Ireland, Coolest Projects Malaysia, USA, and many others.

Monalisa Akanpaaba on her part emerged as the Rising Star of AI

At age 11, Monalisa Akanpaaba from Bridge Roses Montessori School captured the admiration of the judges at Coolest Projects Ghana 2025, earning the title of Favorite AI Project.

A proud and passionate member of Ghana Code Club, Monalisa stood out as one of the few girls to boldly submit her idea

Her innovation, called “School Help Buddy,” is an AI-powered learning assistant built using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and integrated AI frameworks.

It is designed to help school children tackle their homework and sharpen their understanding across subjects—and it is packed with smart features like AI Homework Assistant, which solves and explains math problems while supporting learning in Science, English, and Social Studies.

It also has Voice Interaction, which students can ask questions out loud and receive instant responses.

There is also an Interactive Learning Mode, which engages users with flashcards, quizzes, and fun challenges to reinforce lessons in addition to a Smart Study Planner, which helps kids manage their homework and get reminders for tasks and tests.

Monalisa Akanpaaba is not only a tech whiz but also a symbol of what happens when girls are given the space, tools, and encouragement to innovate.

Her determination, creativity, and technical skill at such a young age is nothing short of remarkable.
